Nairobi Fashion Week Season V Last Year 2017 marked 5 years celebrating Africa’s diverse creative and cultural heritage. From Runway shows to pop up shops, exhibitions and red carpets, it’s always abuzz with activity. And very pocket-friendly to attend! event went down for  three days 24th,25th,and 26th of November 2017

About NFW

Nairobi Fashion Week is a project with a mission to help fashion designers convert their talent into enterprises that can sustain them, and grow into big businesses by giving them much needed visibility.

Four seasons of catwalks have given Nairobi Fashion Week a reputation and track record of excellence. We have showcased over 100 emerging and established African-influenced fashion designers, in four annual events, to an estimated crowd of over 15,000 guests and VIPs, in 12 catwalk shows.

Traditional fashion runways in the world are too expensive for majority of most of who are undiscovered, to showcase on. Fashion shows of world class standards are very expensive to organize. NFW was created to bridge the gap by creating highly affordable showcase opportunities funded by sponsorships, in order to provide visibility for these designers.

NFW thus creates a powerful synergistic system that provides showcase for designers and mileage for sponsoring, exhibiting and partnering brands. The event is organized by Dynamic Race, an event and Public Relations Fashion Agency.

Tribal Chic

It’s one of the best and my favourite fashion events when it comes to the Fashion Social Calendar! Held annually at The Tribe Hotel, this showcases some of up and coming designers, as well as household names in the fashion world- that was must attend. Last year, a pop-up market was introduced on the weekend of the show and a couple of vendors got a chance to display their wares at the hotel. This was a fantastic idea and I hope they continue with the same this year Tride Chic if not only exceptionally organised fashion shows in Nairobi.

Last year’s designers Who Showcased their new collection were Nike Kondakis who is known for her multipurpose garments. Nike showed an updated version of her collection “Second life”.

Others were Katungulu Mwendwa, Deepa Dosaja, Adele Dejak, Niku Singh, “Kipusa” by Anne Mpinga and Anthony Mulli. Mulli’s Jiamini label showcased a sleek, seductive and streamlined collection titled “Vulnerability” in midnight blue with a touch of strength in the form of gold zip detail.
