How the 50th edition of Concours d’Elegance in Kenya went down at the Ngong Racecourse

The 2022 Africa Golden Concours d’Elegance competition reached its conclusion on Sunday 25th September 2022 at Ngong Racecourse, and Adrian Wroe was declared the champion.

Following the Covid-19 outbreak, the event made a comeback for the first time in 2019 when Wroe drove the show-stopping convoy in his Ford Tudor Modela 193.

Peter Wanday, the chairman of the Alpha Romeo’s Club, was ecstatic after this year’s competition.

“The level of preparation has improved quite a bit, which is fantastic. Some of the vehicles that previously didn’t reach the podium are now doing so. I believe that during COVID-19, individuals had no choice but to work on their automobiles and bicycles, remarked Wanday.

At the 50th Concours d’Elegance, vehicle enthusiasts of all ages enjoyed themselves among the pomp and circumstance at the Ngong Racecourse grounds.

To defeat 70 enthusiasts who took part in the 2022 Concours d’Elegance held on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Ngong Race Course in Nairobi, Wroe, who displayed a 1930 Ford Tudor, got 282 points.

The Africa Concours d’Elegance is a yearly event that takes place on the final Sunday in September at the grounds of Nairobi Racecourse. It is now in its 50th edition in the annual series and has established itself as the most upscale competition on the Kenya Motor Sport calendar.

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club (Kenya) celebrated its first birthday in 1971, which inspired the committee to organize an event. The anniversary was a source of great pride for the club’s members.

The committee drew design cues from the late 1960s Giulia coupes and Spider sports vehicles as well as Concours d’Elegance competitions held in numerous nations worldwide.
