King Kaka – Shida Za Kidosi Ft. Khaligraph Jones (Official Music Video)

King Kaka, a Kenyan wordsmith, and artist has released a new music video rap song named Shida Za Kidosi by King Kaka ft Khaligraph Jones Provoke was in charge of the production. Khaligraph Jones, Africa’s King rapper, is featured.

The music video to King Kaka and Khaligraph Jone’s collaboration called “Shida za Kidosi” is set to premiere on YouTube on December 30th. The song has been available exclusively for Safaricom Baze users since Christmas and will finally be on other streaming platforms tomorrow.

King Kaka released a new EP this year in partnership with Rémy Martin called Happy Hour which features popular hits such as “Pull Up” featuring one of Kenya’s biggest Gengetone groups Wakadinali. The new collaboration with Jones, although not a track on his new EP, is a welcome addition to both their repertoires

Jones has also been busy this year, he recently concluded his Odinare Rap Challenge in partnership with OdiBets by releasing a new song featuring the top 6 finalists called “Khali Cartel 4.” His new collaboration with Kaka is just one more in a year Jones has spent teaming up with other Kenyan artists.

Kenyan King of Genge  Jua Cali has released a new banger song dubbed “Kenya One Tribe”.

Paul Julius Nunda, better known by his stage name Jua Cali (born 12 September 1979), is a Kenyan hip-hop rapper. In 2000 together with producer Clemo they founded Calif Records where Jua Cali has stayed since. Jua Cali performs in Kiswahili and Sheng in a popular Kenyan style of rapping called Genge.

Jua Cali was born in Eastlands, Nairobi. His parents, Doreen Onditi and Evans Onditi (deceased) were both schoolteachers. He grew up with a strict Catholic upbringing in California Estate to the east of Nairobi city. He began rapping at age 10, encouraged by his elder brother Christopher Sati. He was known as an introverted teenager who was often quiet, hardly ever socializing.

Newest Rapper In Town Diana Bahati Drop New Song – One Day ( Official Music Video)

Kenyan newest rap female recording artist and YouTuber known for her role as a cast member in the Kenyan reality show Being Bahati, Diana Bahati is here with a brand new joint dubbed One Day.

 In her previous interview, she said Willy Paul has issues with her because of the way her songs have been performing on YouTube compared to his, Willy Paul’s.

“wanasema, you handle your sister’s bae very mannerlessly, bwana ya wenyewe is a no-go zone,” she said in the song.

She took to her Instagram page to share the news with her fans on how her latest rap dubbed “One Day” has performed on YouTube.

Diana B Slams Willy Paul: ‘He’s Hating Because I’m Ahead Of Him!’

Diana B, the newly unveiled rapper in town, has been facing a lot of backlash from netizens and household names in the music industry following the debut of her rap career.

Diana has since addressed Willy Paul who ridiculed her debut song joining the Kenyan music industry dubbed ‘Hatutaachana’.

Diana claimed that the ‘I do’ hitmaker is projecting hate on her because of the number of views that her first song has amassed on YouTube.

Speaking during an interview on Kiss 100 on Friday, Diana stated that she is ahead of Willy Paul, despite being a novice in the music industry.

“I released my first song three days ago, right now, I’m already at 1 million views. This guy has been in the industry for years. I joined the music industry three days ago and numbers don’t lie. I feel like he is hating just because I am ahead of him,” she said.

She further took to her social media to declare herself the first Kenyan female artist to hit 1 million views on YouTube in three days.

“They first run their mouth, and then they run. Recordset as the first Kenyan female artist to hit 1 million views in 3 days,” she stated.

Diana went on to ask netizens to mention artists in her comment section who are hating on her while struggling to match her number of views.

“Team Diana, tag any artist who has been hating but deep down you know they are struggling to get attention for their song views to try reach mine. What God has blessed, no man can curse,” she wrote.

Willy Paul was among the notable figures that reacted to Diana’s song, as he laughed off her entry into the music industry.

Others include Femi One who warned netizens against comparing her to Diana, adding that she can only be weighed up with Nyashinski.

Bahati’s wife Diana Marua ‘Diana B’ Is the New Rapper In Kenya Taking Over Music Industry by Storm

After weeks of teasing a huge announcement, musician Bahati has finally revealed the reason behind the fuss, the secrets, and the teases.

And unexpectedly, the big reveal was his wife, Diana Marua who debuted her rap career before an invited crowd of bloggers, YouTubers, and news people at the Trademark Hotel on Sunday.

Diana Marua will now go by the name Diana B. And she has put all rappers on notice.

“This is big, this is huge wacha na hiyo ufala ya Eric Omondi, this is big for Kenya,” Singer Bahati said, before ushering his wife onto the stage.

And when she finally got onto the stage, Diana who wore silver and black hot pants, a matching bralette, and chunky stiletto boots started dropping the bars.

“Wow, Diana B on this,” she rapped Wanaosema tutaachana, sidanganyi watangoja sana, yetu si ya konde boy na Kajala…mapenzi za kujienjoy za kifala, ama kama Lilian na gavana, vita za Chris Brown na Rihanna… Bahati na Marua tamu kama halua…”

Her retinue of invited guests to the launch included musician Akothee, who went on to hype Diana B as “Africa’s Biggest Female Rapper”

Akothee said,” Can someone get me a towel, I’m sweating, If you are not shocked today … how many are shocked by the Bahati reveal?”

Akothee said that despite having been in the industry for more than seven years, it was the first time she was seeing that many cameras in one place.

“Bahati usitufanye hivi tena, unaweza fanya watu wa-lose maini,” Akothee continued.

In a quick interview, Diana told all that were gathered for the launch that her greatest motivator is her husband and fellow singer Bahati.

On a global scale, Diana B says she is inspired by Nicki Minaj, Shensea, Cardi B among others.

The new rapper in town also revealed that she has another project simmering in the works, to be released later in December.

She however declined the invitation to reveal whether her style will lean towards gospel or secular, saying she will be doing music for the soul.

“I’m doing good music, music for the soul, music for the food … I’m doing music for everybody, let us enjoy let us have fun, let us not categorize fun,” she added.

King Kaka Launches First Ep Happy Hour In 13 Years After Health Scare

Kenyan rapper King Kaka, born Kennedy Ombima, has officially launched his new Extended Play (EP) dubbed ‘Happy Hour’ after months of suffering a health scare.

The EP was launched in an invite-only event that took place in Kilimani on Tuesday night.

King Kaka was accompanied by his wife Nana Owiti and in attendance was his Kaka Empire signee Femi One as well as fellow artistes Jua Kali, Jaguar, among other notable household names.

“It is a big day for me. Today we are celebrating my second birthday. My birthday is on May 7th but today I am dropping my first EP in 13 years, it’s titled ‘Happy Hour,” said a joyous King Kaka.

The ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ hitmaker said he wanted to do something to celebrate the gift of life following his health scare.

“Having gone through one of the toughest times in my life when I was ailing, I wanted to do something to celebrate life and all the goodness it has to offer.”

The EP features his wife Nana Owiti, a famed TV presenter, as the face of the official cover.

 

“We had already done the cover photoshoot before. We did some design but it wasn’t working because I was very thin and sick. So at the time, I decided to display my wife as the cover because she has played a very important role,” explained King Kaka.

‘Happy Hour’ features Tanzanian singer Rich Mavoko, Ugandan Ykee Benda, and other notable Kenyan artists such as Amos and Josh, Wakadinali, Kristoff, Okello Max, and Ndume.

King Kaka informed that he worked on the project a while back but its release was hindered by his ailment.

“The initial release date for the EP was October 1 but after I got sick, we had to reschedule it further to date. So, the songs were already recorded,” he said.

During the launch event, King Kaka could barely hide his exhilaration as he shared the good progress of his current state following a misdiagnosis that led to him losing 33 kilograms in the process.

“Right now I am doing fine. I cannot believe it. I was initially 85kgs and dropped to 62kgs. But we now thank God for the gift of life. I could hardly eat and walk, but now I can. There is no better feeling,” he stated.

On Sunday, the Gala for the 2021 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) went down at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.
The All Africa Music Awards was held on the 21st of November, 2021 and it was a memorable day as many celebrities around the world took home the award they deserved.
After weeks of dishing out the nominees, the organizers revealed the winners of each category.

The event saw big names in the entertainment industry battle out for the prestigious Award.
Kenyan songstress Nikita Kering took home two awards; Best Female Artiste East Africa and Best Artist, Duo or Group in African RnB & Soul.

Award-winning Kenyan Boy band Sauti Sol was crowned as the Best group while the award for the Best in African Rock went to Rash Band.

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Wizkid became one of the biggest winners on the AFRIMMA 2021 stage with three awards going to him including the Best African Artist.
The most of which might be 13-year-old gospel singer Shanah Manjeru who became the youngest holder of an AFRIMA Award for the Best African Female Artiste in Inspirational Music.

Biggest Winner
But the biggest winner of the night was Malian Ibaone, who won four awards – Album of the Year, African Male Artiste in Inspirational Music, Best Song Writer, and Best Male Artiste from Western Africa.
Wizkid won three awards out of the four nominations he got in this year’s AFRIMA; Best Song of the Year and Best African Collaborations and Best Artiste of the Year award.

The show was hosted by Eddie Kadi and Pearl Thusi and witnessed singing performances from Zuchu, Patoranking, Chike, Olakira, D’banj among others.

Khaligraph Jones Releases Khali Cartel 4 Ft Katapilla X Shekina Karen X Murasta X Achicho X Elisha Elai X Ben-c

Kenyan heavyweight hip hop recording artist and award winner, Brian Robert Ouko popularly known as Khaligraph Jones is back with a brand new banger titled Khali Cartel 4.

On Monday, Papa Jones took to social media to announce the official release of Khali Cartel 4, a project he has featured top 6 finalists of the Odinare Challenge. The top 6 finalists on the rap cipher are; Katapilla, Shekina Karen, Murasta, Achicho, Elisha Elai, and Ben-c.

The new tune has been released exactly two years after the unveiling of Khali Cartel 3 that featured; Bey T, Breeder Lw, Silverstone Barz, Rekles, and Chiwawa.

The Khali Cartel 4 Instrumental was created by Aress 66, Vinc on The beat, Papa Jones himself, and its visuals were arranged by Omoke.

Minutes after being released Khali Cartel 4 took over Twitter and YouTube trends and so far it has garnered over 161K views in just 11 hours.

The cipher which features Khaligraph and the top six finalists of the Odinare rap Challenge was a project that saw Blue Inc. studios partner with betting firm Odibets under their Odimtaani initiative.

Speaking to journalists after the release of the cipher, Khaligraph said that Khali Cartel 4 was a one-of-a-kind music project to celebrate his fans for their support.

“I decided to release Khali Cartel 4 this year in a bid to give back to my fans who have been with me through thick and thin, after bringing the Odinare challenge to the rap scene courtesy of Odibets. I released Khali Cartel 4 with the six rap challenge finalists who had proved beyond all reasonable doubt that they were the next stars in the hip hop scene,” said the award-winning rapper.

The Khali cartel 4 cipher video which has been termed by rap fanatics as a “movie” was shot on a bank robbery set up that sees Khaligraph question the various rappers on different issues as they rhyme to the beat of the cipher.

A few months back, Rapper Khaligraph Jones unveiled the winner of the ‘Odinare’ Rap Challenge.

Kibera-born-rapper Katapila won the Odinare Rap Challenge walking away with the grand prize of Sh1 million.

BenC and Real Elai, came in second and third walking away with Sh500,000 and Sh300,000 respectively.

Octopizzo Makes It To The 64th Grammy Awards 2022 Consideration List 

Kenyan hip-hop artist, activist, and youth ambassador, Henry Ohanga alias Octopizzo has made it to the 2022 Grammy Awards consideration list.

The Kibera-bred musician took to his social media to make the announcement while noting that this coming Saturday will mark the one-year anniversary of his album dubbed Jungle Fever that debuted in 2020.

“I had to do it twice so that they know it wasn’t luck.

This Saturday will be Jungle Fever’s 1-year anniversary. Excited to be up for Grammy consideration categories @recordingacademy”
The Grammy Awards Academy has proposed Octopizzo to be nominated in three categories: Best Global Music Album (Jungle Fever), Best Global Music Performance (Lela featuring Suzanna Owiyo), and Best Rap Song/ Performance (Pockets & Interlude)

“Go vote. Head to the @recordingacademy and let them know Kenya and Kibera, needs one of these. One day I’ll bring this to Kibera, I believe,” he wrote.

In addition, the rapper stated that his producer, Ghanaian Stallion, was nominated for producer of the year non-classical.
The ‘Oliel’ hitmaker further informed that with the aim to celebrate his consistency, he is set to release a new album titled ‘Fuego’ on Friday, November 19, 2021.

2021 Grammy Awards
Following the considerations, the Lela hitmaker will now be subjected to a voting process to determine if they will make it to the list of Nominees for the 2021 Grammy Awards. The Voting will be done by Academy members.

What is a Grammy consideration?
These are entries that meet all eligibility requirements to be included in the first ballot, which goes to the Recording Academy’s Voting Members, who then vote for the entries they believe should receive a nomination.

The Grammy Award or just Grammy is considered one of the four major annual American entertainment awards, along with the Academy Awards (film), the Emmy Awards (television), and the Tony Awards (theater and Broadway).

The WCB Family at Grammy
WCB President Diamond Platnumz and his two signees Rayvanny and Zuchu were the East Africans to make it to the 2021 Grammy Awards consideration list.

Diamond was proposed to be nominated in the Best Video of the year Category for his two songs Jeje and Baba Lao. Rayvanny’s Album #Flowers is also being considered for a nomination in the Best World Music Album of the year Category.

Songstress Zuchu has been proposed for a nomination in the Best New Artist category at the Grammy’s.

Nonini Mgenge New Song Tanga Ft Chege Chigunda From Tanzania

Nonini (born Hubert Nakitare) is a Kenyan hip-hop recording artist, entertainer, and businessman, as of 2018, he was signed to Homeboyz Productions. His debut single ‘Nonini ni Nani?’ earned him a spot in the music scene. His album ‘Mwisho Ya Mawazo’ (2007) featured musicians such as Nyota Ndogo, Mercy Myra, Professor Jay, and Q-Chief.

He is the founder of P-Unit, a music outfit comprising rappers Bonnie, Frasha, and Gabu. In 2009 he was named International Lifestyle Ambassador by the Limkokwing University in Malaysia, Nonini also runs a video production company named Pro Habo.

He ventured into the fashion industry after launching his own shoe brand titled Mgenge 2ru Kicks, the collection ranges from sneakers for kids and adults.

“I have always been a fashion guy and I prefer promoting Kenyan brands. This started way back in the year 2000 when I released the song “Weh Kamu”. I used to go to Gikomba market to get white plain t-shirts and print them,” the singer recalled.

“I even designed the logo for Calif records. So over the years, I’ve just reinvented what I’ve been doing and right now focusing on fashion and taking it seriously as my career. Mgenge 2ru is an apparel brand. We have clothes that include hoodies, jumpers, bomber jackets, and watches,” he added.

The shoes, he says, are made in Italy while the clothesline is made in Kenya.

His journey in music is what inspired him to his new enterprise and Nonini says he’s not about to call it quits.

“My brand has always been Mgenge 2ru, which for me is a lifestyle. My journey has been from grass to grace. When you wear those shoes it means you are a guy who has hustled and wants to better themselves. That is the inspiration behind the brand.”

Christened the godfather of Genge music, Nonini shot to the limelight in early 2000 after the release of his song “Manze wa Nairobi” which he followed up with a single “Weh Kamu”.

The songs made part of his first album titled “Hanyanring Game” which was released in 2004. He later released two other albums titled “Mwisho wa Mawazo” and “Godfather” in 2007 and 2009 respectively.
