Gucci Beauty Network Lipstick Collections

Ever since Gucci launched a dedicated Instagram feed for beauty last fall, the industry has been anxiously anticipating Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s reimagined vision for the Italian house’s cosmetics range.

After months focusing on fragrance and a fun campaign to go with it Gucci has turned its attention to makeup with a 58-piece lipstick collection featuring three different formulations.

On Sunday, Gucci released its latest beauty campaign, photographed by Martin Parr. Described in a press release as “a manifesto of beauty written by the house’s creative director,” the images feature Dani Miller, the lead singer of punk band Surfbort, as well as models Mae Lapres, Achok Majak and Ellia Sophia Coggins.

The ’80s-inspired campaign is an homage to Michele’s off-kilter sensibilities and penchant for quirk; it’s meant to communicate that “makeup should not mask, but rather exalt, flaws and make them part of the language of beauty,” per press materials.

There is also an accompanying campaign film, shot by Chris Simmonds, which draws on the same vintage aesthetic and encourages the audience to be “bold, bright and beautiful,” via a voiceover.

The campaign, with its throwback graphics and gritty rawness, is certainly bold. It’s meant to “convey a clear message that authentic beauty lies in imperfection,” and it does so in part by showing close-ups of models and mouths that look different less polished, less perfect, less bleached, far more realistic than most of what the beauty industry visually sells consumers.

While some Instagram commenters shared their shock (and in some cases, disdain) for seeing such images from a beauty brand, others, like anonymous watchdog collective @EsteeLaundry, applauded Gucci for celebrating “dental diversity” in its campaign.

The Gucci lipstick collection is available as of Monday exclusively at the Saks Fifth Avenue’s New York Flagship and will launch nationwide on May 29 on Saks.com.

The Power Of Lipstick

Lipsticks come in all types of colour, shades, and sizes.

Different types of lipsticks include moisturizing lipstick, sheer lipstick, matte lipstick, cream lipstick, glossy lipstick and long-lasting lipstick.

The lipstick that your mother used to have in her huge handbag was thick & chunky. She’d whip it out and twist out a muted colour that wouldn’t scream too much. It wouldn’t take her more than a minute to paint it on & throw it back in her bag after placing the lid back on.

Ladies of the night used to apply a bright shade to attract customers & show them that they were ready to open for business. However, lipstick it’s no longer that infamous & there’s a perfect lipstick for every lady.

The power of lipstick lies in that you don’t need the same precision as a foundation.

Wear the wrong foundation on your face & the whole world knows. Just look at the face and look at the neck. It also takes time putting it on, so you definitely need to wake up a little early than usual and reach out for those makeup brushes.

But with lipstick, you just pull it out of your bag, paint it on your lips and you’re ready for the day.

Before you dash out to the office or head out that date you’ve been excited about. Use lipliner to have a neater look, then apply lipstick on your lips & gently blot it. Nobody wants to look like they’ve been eating their lipstick.

If you want your lipstick to last longer. Exfoliate your lips first with a damp toothbrush. Moisturize your lips with lip balm that isn’t too oily. Blot your lips to remove extra moisture. Use a lip liner to define your lips. Use your favourite lipstick. Blot off excess lipstick with a cloth. Powder your lips with a loose powder similar to the foundation that you use.

Love your bright lips from morning till nighttime.

Stop Curving!

‘I’ve known you for two years.  I feel like we’re going nowhere,’ Sammy** tells Angela** with a straight face & lowered voice.

Searching her eyes for encouragement so he can carry on opening up…

Indeed, Angela looks into his face, slightly wrinkles her mouth and keeps quiet.

‘Do you feel that way sometimes?’ his voices quavers a bit like a little puppy.

‘Like where?’ Angela asks him with a straight face.

Angela isn’t into guessing games and she knows exactly what he’s attempting. Truly, he’ll never get there. Instead, he meanders, throws ideas in the air & lets the pieces fall wherever they may.

Words like ‘imagine if you & I were like a thing’.

Angela rolls her eyes and wonders why he can’t try harder to get her.

It’s a bit agonizing watching him. Strangely, she crushed on him once but he never made his move and that’s why she curved him. Likewise, banished him the friend zone.

Why is that girl curving you, so hard?

a) You made a move but that was it. Whilst, she waited with baited breath for you to really notice her, however, you never did. Hence, She decided to keep searching for someone more decisive.

b) You can’t keep a lid on things. Of course, oversharing isn’t cute especially when she starts wondering what you’ll say about her if she took a leap of faith.

P.S. You can’t be derogatory towards women and wonder why they keep making U-turns.

c) She’s not attracted to you in that way… (no fire). Specifically, thinking about you doesn’t make her look into the mirror & apply lipstick for you or wonder about which push-up bra is pushing too hard.

d) She doesn’t trust you. Namely, Cassanova tendencies run in your blood, she’s seen you first hand & she wants better for herself.

e) You’re lonely. She’s alone. You are alone & sad however She’s single and doing her thing. You can’t trap her like that. She just wants more…

f) You’ve labeled yourself a ‘nice guy’ but you’re everything but that.  https://www.pinterest.com/pin/AVGonoQS23l6wRGjsEChVgtV3ZPyfE8t6sh427kSDFuWJ-cw5ZkPyaI/
