Danayi Madondo is a well-traveled designer whose work is an expression of my encounters. With a BA degree in fashion design, i have dedicated my art form to exploring, constructing as well as reinterpreting the modern African woman’s narrative.

Having worked in various design fields such as fashion show and film production, marketing and branding, as well as retail has allowed me to become strongly acquainted with the various needs of the fashion industry.

Madondo is the founder and creative director of Haus Of Stone. Haus Of Stone is a Zimbabwean based ready-to-wear fashion brand driven by the philosophies of surrealism, harmony, and afro-minimalism. The brand’s fluid, hand-crafted apparel is ethically and locally manufactured. Haus Of Stone apparel exudes understated luxury, comfort & sophistication. The brand is designed to resonate with the design & environmental conscious travel enthusiast.

Danayi has been nominated for ‘Best Emerging Designer’ Award and ‘Entrepreneurs’ Award at the Zimbabwe International Women’s Awards in 2015 and 2018 respectively. 2019 has been a successful year for Danayi & Haus Of Stone with the following achievements:

  • Danayi was selected to be an AfrOurban Artist. AfrOURban is a collective documenting African culture. Through AfrOURurban, she exhibited her Haus Of Stone fashion narratives in Melbourne, Australia.
  • Haus Of Stone represented Zimbabwean fashion at the N’gola Festival in Sao Tome under Kenyan creative directors (Sunny Dolat) exhibition.
  • Haus Of Stone was chosen to showcase at GT Bank Fashion Weekend in Lagos Nigeria alongside some of Africa’s finest designers.
  • Danayi joined the Zimbabwe Fashion Committee responsible for developing the ‘Product Curation Criteria’ & ‘Creative Style Direction’ for the Dubai 2020 Expo.

In addition to the above, Danayi Madondo is the co-founder of the creative styling collective, BLVK Consultants, which houses 3 independent designers & stylists. BLVK Consultants are image consultants who specialize in styling, personal branding, art directing, set design & personal shopping services.

Under BLVK Consultants, Danayi has worked with some of Africa’s leading artists, luxury brands & corporations such as Patrick Mavros, Rungano Rwedu, ZiFM Stereo, Wild Aid, Jah Prayzah, Tamy Moyo, Gemma Griffith, Ammara Brown, Vimbai Mutinhiri and many more.
