World Cup 2022: Qatar tournament dates, schedule, kickoff times, and final
The World Cup 2022 will be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, with 32 teams competing in eight groups.

There are only a few days left till the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The competition this year will be the first to be staged in the Middle East and the first to take place in late November and early December.

The event will take place in eight stadiums spread across Qatar’s five towns of Lusail, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, and Doha.
The top two teams from each group that will advance to the World Cup knockout stage have already been given their spots.

The winners of the two intercontinental playoffs were given two opening spots in Groups D and E. Australia received the first ticket after defeating Peru on penalties.

When and where will the World Cup be in 2022?
On Sunday, November 20, at the Al Bayt Stadium, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar gets underway as the hosts take on Ecuador in Group A.
Senegal’s match against the Netherlands at Al Thumama Stadium was originally scheduled to kick off the tournament a day later, but Qatar’s match was moved up to allow them to launch their home tournament.

England will now feature on the second day with their Group B match against Iran scheduled to take place on Monday, November 21 with a 1 pm UK time kick-off. The game is just eight days after the Premier League shuts down

After qualifying via the playoffs, Wales’ first game will also be on Monday, November 21.
Wales will then play England on Tuesday, November 29 in Group B.
The final will be played at the Lusail Stadium in Doha a week before Christmas on Sunday, December 18.

What is the World Cup group draw?

The 2022 World Cup will begin with 32 teams in eight groups of four:

  • Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands
  • Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales
  • Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland
  • Group D: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia
  • Group E: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan
  • Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia
  • Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon
  • Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea

What is the World Cup format and schedule?

Four matches will be played each day during the group stage, which will run over a 12-day period and see winners and runners-up progress to the round of 16.
