Beyoncé for the September issue of Vogue Magazine Cover

Beyoncé’s and Vogue’s much buzzed-about September issue cover is here. In an unprecedented move, the musician tapped photographer Tyler Mitchell to shoot the cover and lengthy accompanying spread. The 23-year old is the first black individual to shoot a Vogue cover in its 125-year history. In the magazine’s feature article, Beyoncé sounds off Mr. Mitchell, diversity, the need to open doors for other women of color, and more. Some excerpts can be found below.

”It goes without saying that Tyler Mitchell’s photographs of Beyoncé for the September issue of Vogue are nothing short of works of art, and Professional illustrator Alice X. Zhang posted shots of her Vogue-inspired paintings on Twitter and Instagram and Beyoncé fans were astounded.”

On selecting Tyler Mitchell to photograph the cover: Until there is a mosaic of perspectives coming from different ethnicities behind the lens, we will continue to have a narrow approach and view of what the world actually looks like. That is why I wanted to work with this brilliant 23-year-old photographer Tyler Mitchell.

On her Vogue cover: When I first started, 21 years ago, I was told that it was hard for me to get onto covers of magazines because black people did not sell. Clearly that has been proven a myth. Not only is an African American on the cover of the most important month for Vogue, this is the first ever Vogue cover shot by an African American photographer.

On the need for diversity: If people in powerful positions continue to hire and cast only people who look like them, sound like them, come from the same neighborhoods they grew up in, they will never have a greater understanding of experiences different from their own. They will hire the same models, curate the same art, cast the same actors over and over again, and we will all lose. The beauty of social media is it’s completely democratic. Everyone has a say. Everyone’s voice counts, and everyone has a chance to paint the world from their own perspective.

On “seeing herself”: My mother taught me the importance not just of being seen but of seeing myself. As the mother of two girls, it’s important to me that they see themselves too—in books, films, and on runways. It’s important to me that they see themselves as CEOs, as bosses, and that they know they can write the script for their own lives—that they can speak their minds and they have no ceiling. They don’t have to be a certain type or fit into a specific category. They don’t have to be politically correct, as long as they’re authentic, respectful, compassionate, and empathetic.

On freedom: I don’t like too much structure. I like to be free. I’m not alive unless I am creating something. I’m not happy if I’m not creating, if I’m not dreaming, if I’m not creating a dream and making it into something real. I’m not happy if I’m not improving, evolving, moving forward, inspiring, teaching, and learning.

The Best Dressed Celebrities on the Red Carpet at Met Gala 2018

Best Dress celebrites at the met gala 2018 Considering the dress code of the 2018 Met Gala was “Sunday best,” celebrating a Catholicism-themed exhibit, Monday night’s celebrity-packed red carpet could’ve gone wrong in a million ways.
Yet, for all the sacrilegious naked dresses or culturally inappropriate couture that the event’s A-list attendees could’ve worn to the event, the majority of this year’s Met Gala looks hit the mark, making for a revelatory night of saintly fashion.
From Lena Waithe’s instantly-iconic LGBTQ flag cape to the many angels, popes and renaissance artworks that walked the carpet, these were the best fashions of the 2018 Met Gala.

Rihanna
Rih has always been a Met Gala show-stopper, and considering Anna Wintour tapped her as one of the celebrity hosts of this year’s event, her look was bound to be a success. And it was, with the singer opting for a Margiela-designed papal crown and cape.

Lena Waithe
With a suit and cape by Carolina Herrera, Waithe re-imagined the night’s theme as a way to celebrate a community that hasn’t historically been recognized by the church, a fashion choice both cheekily transgressive and triumphant. Plus, it was a look that Vogue icon and cape enthusiast André Leon Talley had to love.

Beauty Secrets and Fitness from Africa

Ever wondered how African women stay in such good shape? Irrespective of their age, they all have shiny wrinkle-free skin with no flaps, parentheses, etc. on their faces. It always makes me wonder, is it a miracle or some gift? No ladies, it is neither a miracle nor a gift, but they have some beauty, makeup, fitness, and diet secrets that almost every African beauty follows. This is what makes them flaunt their perfectly shaped body and beautiful face every time they are seen.

First let me reveal the African beauty and makeup secrets in front of you all:

African Women Makeup And Beauty Secrets
1. Mostly all African women have a dark complexion, so many of them don’t use makeup until they are 17. After their teenage, they use makeup which is specially made for dark complexion. The most popular makeup they use is of Black Opal, which features a wide range of cosmetics that help to correct, cover and enhance the dark complexion. It is one of the main secrets which make African women look so beautiful.

2. In their daily routine, they use toners instead of any other creams or gels. It gently removes the bacteria in it and helps in preventing skin breakouts.

3. While washing the face with water, they massage in an outward circular motion with their fingers. This helps in skin tightening. They don’t wash their face more than three times a day.

4. Many African women believe that having dry skin is bad, and on the other hand they also oppose the use of harsh chemically treated moisturizers on their skin. So they moisturize their skin using olive oil, shea butter & cocoa butter.

5. Before going off to sleep, African women try to refrain from applying any night creams. Instead, they warm up their favorite natural moisturizer and apply it to their faces. After 10 minutes, they wash it off using lukewarm water. They also ensure to get at least 7 hours of sleep.

These are some of the most important makeup and beauty secrets of African women.

African Women Diet And Fitness Secrets
1. African women are very much concerned about the food they eat. They mainly eat fish, fruits, cereals, and veggies. Their main meal is lunch. They still use the traditional cooking methods where baking in ashes, grilling beside a fire, steaming food in leaf wrappers, frying in oil, roasting is involved which helps in maintaining the natural vital nutrients of that food.

2. They drink a minimum of ten cups of water daily, to stay hydrated.

3. They walk at least a mile every day. If walking is not possible, they work out in their homes, but exercising is a must according to them.

4. They avoid using palm oil. Instead, they use sunflower or olive oil.

5. As compared to women from the other part of the world, Africans consume less amount of alcohol or any other hard drinks. They avoid it because they know alcohol increases fat in the body which results in weight gain.

6. Most African women are seen sunbathing. A moderate amount of sun exposure has many benefits like its killing bad bacteria. It helps in fighting any fungal infections, acne, or eczema. Sunlight can cure depression and build the immune system. So, these women are seen sunbathing along the coastline, which is also one of their fitness secrets.
