How to Wear Liquid EyeLiner

Liquid eyeliner contours and gives a precise definition to our eyes. Simply said wearing liquid eyeliner will give you the WOW effect! However, the task of getting it on perfectly is definitely a tricky task, especially if you have shaky hands. With that, I must admit that if there is one makeup tool that I haven’t totally mastered, it is applying my liquid eyeliner. Either it comes out too thick or too thin, or looks like it has been lined by a five-year-old kid. A total disaster.
Thankfully, with new brushes, formulas, and better overall design improvements, I have realized that liquid liners are now easier to use than ever.
So, here’s a brief picture tutorial on how to use liquid eyeliner easily. One certainly needs some practice and patience before mastering this art and then you can play around with the liner for the type of contouring you want! Why Use Liquid Eyeliner?
A million dollar question, maybe! Unlike the pencil eyeliners, the liquid liner emphasizes the eyes in a dramatic way. Additionally, it makes the lashes appear fuller and lasts longer than a regular pencil.

Miss Malaika

Miss Malaika Ghana is a beauty pageant, and reality show which first aired in Ghana in 2003. The show is produced by Charter House Productions and airs on Ghana television station TV3 as well as DSTV channel Africa Magic. The pageant is produced as a 12- to 13-week reality show which shows the search for a Ghanaian representative for the Miss Malaika continental competition. It was the first beauty pageant show to be aired as a reality series in Ghana.

From the conception of the show 2002, it has been presented to the audience as a reality TV show which allows for the viewers to vote for their favorite contestant to be crowned Miss Malaika Ghana. Each week, the contestants are given tasks to perform which range from performances to organizing events. This is then assessed by a panel of judges who have a certain degree of power in selecting successful candidates and eliminating others

Before the pageant was produced as a reality television series, with viewers voting for their favourite contestants, Ghana’s Miss Malaika’s representative was handpicked by judges.Since the show began in 2003, it has included judges known as the godmothers. The duty of the godmothers are to instruct and teach the contestants on conduct and beauty amongst other things. These godmothers are Mrs Kay Bentsi-Enchill who’s been on the show for 3 years and Mary-Anne Sekyi, who’s has 6 years worth of experience. The 2010 finale judging panel of the event also included, Ghanaian actors John Dumelo and Jackie Appiah, as well as Paul Adom Otchere.

Makeup Tips for Women Over 40 Years

Ladies, remember this: beauty does not have an age restriction. But when you enter your 40s, your skin will go through some rather dramatic changes, most of which are related to the loss of collagen and elasticity. While these changes are inevitable and aging is completely natural – the main trick to aging gracefully is to embrace it. If you’re in your 40s, you can still maintain a youthful appearance with the right makeup choices and application techniques (besides investing in a good skin care routine, and maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly.)

Once you’re in your 40s, it’s crucial to choose the right skin care regime and makeup. It’s a transitioning period for your body and skin, and it’s about time you switch up your beauty routine. These are a bunch of makeup products and tools that will help you enhance your features and look the best version of yourself.

Hydrating Primer
A primer does for your skin what lingerie does for your figure – it smoothens, conceals, flatters, and holds things in place, so that everything you put on top of it looks even better. Whether you want to blur out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles or minimize the appearance of pores or even out your skin tone, all you need is a good primer. Mature skin needs extra moisture and hydration to achieve a healthy-looking complexion.

Expert Tip
Make sure you prep your face before applying any makeup using either a hydrating primer or a balm – anything that soothes your skin. By doing so, you’ll have to use less makeup, and it’ll also blend far more seamlessly on well-hydrated skin.
What We Recommend

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
  • Korres Anti-Aging Primer
  • Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firm and Lift 2-in-1 Moisturizer and Anti-Aging Primer

Africa Ancient Beauty Secret

Africa’s ancient beauty secrets are finally coming into the fore. Even though the continent produces some of the world’s most beneficial & unrivalled organic and natural ingredients for natural skin and hair care, its own ancient tribal traditions have been largely ignored. Until now.Learn the secrets of Africa’s ancient beauty and look out for some of these ingredients and tribal stories in Africa.

 Africa Ancient Beauty Secret

Macadamia Nut Oil
Some refer to macadamia as the “queen of the nuts“ due to its many health and beauty benefits. The biggest export country at this time is Kenya, even though the macadamia trees originally comes from Australia. You may be familiar with the rich flavor and the high nutrients of macadamia nuts. However, what’s even more valuable is the macadamia nut oil that can be extracted. It helps soothing the skin and promotes anti-ageing effects. Additionally, it does good to your heart, has antioxidant potential and is very good for your eyes. The oil can help to increase the shine of your hair and even decrease hair loss.
To ensure fair production conditions, Dr. Hauschka is working with the organization LIMBUA to support the local farmers. After the nuts are delivered to Germany and processed to oil, it is added to the formula of different beauty products from Dr. Hauschka, making the experience even more precious.

Kalahari Melon Seeds Oil
The Kalahari desert in South Africa is home of the Kalahari watermelon. Although this melon is the biological ancestor of the common watermelon you can find worldwide, the Kalahari melon tastes rather bitter and its flesh is pale yellow or green instead of the bright red we associate with watermelons. Actually what is truly precious about the melon is the oil you can produce out of the seeds. They contain linoleic, oleic and palmitic essential fatty acids that help the skin retain moisture. The melons even served desert people as a source for water. Due to its highly nurturing components, it is said that bushmen could survive for six weeks in the desert on these watermelons alone. I am not sure whether I would want to try that, but I would definitely try the oil as a beauty product. A true wonder fruit!

What Type is your Hair?

What are the types of hair? According to NatuallyCurly, your hair type is the key to determining the right products and hairstyles of your hair. This hair typing system focuses on three types of hair: Wavy, Curly, and Coily.Kinky hair types (type 4 hair)
4a hair has a defined curl pattern almost like a “s” shape. Generally speaking it retains moisture fairly well, but as with most curly hair types can still be prone to dryness. Being that this hair type has a naturally defined curl pattern wash n’ go styles may be a great option as it can be easily achieved with the right product and technique. Gentle sulfate free shampoos, conditioners and rich creamy products or butters will be helpful for keeping hair moisturized.

4b hair has a “z” shape pattern and has a more fluffy cottony appearance. Due to the bends and curves in the hair strand it is highly susceptible to dryness and breakage. This hair type shrinks up to 70% so without stretching out the hair it will appear shorter than it actually is. Naturals with this hair type will benefit from protective (buns, twists, braids)  and low manipulation styles (roller sets, ponytail puffs, twist outs) to protect the hair from damage. A lot of moisture, gentle cleansers and frequent deep conditioning will be helpful for naturals with 4b hair.

4c hair looks similar to 4b hair type only it is more tightly coiled. In its raw state (no products added and freshly washed) it does not have a defined curl pattern. Coils have to be defined by either twisting, braiding, or shingling through the strands. Many 4c naturals have shrinkage up to 70% or more. So while your hair may be 10 inches long it may appear like you only have 3 inches of hair if you do not stretch your hair out. It is the most fragile hair type, so if you desire to grow your hair long protective styles like twists, braids, or buns should be your go to style choice. These styles do not require daily manipulation (combing/brushing) giving hair less chances to break off.  You can then wear your hair out for a couple of days in a low manipulation style (puffs, roller sets, twist outs) and then repeat the cycle for a balanced routine.

The Power Of Lipstick

Lipsticks come in all types of colour, shades, and sizes.

Different types of lipsticks include moisturizing lipstick, sheer lipstick, matte lipstick, cream lipstick, glossy lipstick and long-lasting lipstick.

The lipstick that your mother used to have in her huge handbag was thick & chunky. She’d whip it out and twist out a muted colour that wouldn’t scream too much. It wouldn’t take her more than a minute to paint it on & throw it back in her bag after placing the lid back on.

Ladies of the night used to apply a bright shade to attract customers & show them that they were ready to open for business. However, lipstick it’s no longer that infamous & there’s a perfect lipstick for every lady.

The power of lipstick lies in that you don’t need the same precision as a foundation.

Wear the wrong foundation on your face & the whole world knows. Just look at the face and look at the neck. It also takes time putting it on, so you definitely need to wake up a little early than usual and reach out for those makeup brushes.

But with lipstick, you just pull it out of your bag, paint it on your lips and you’re ready for the day.

Before you dash out to the office or head out that date you’ve been excited about. Use lipliner to have a neater look, then apply lipstick on your lips & gently blot it. Nobody wants to look like they’ve been eating their lipstick.

If you want your lipstick to last longer. Exfoliate your lips first with a damp toothbrush. Moisturize your lips with lip balm that isn’t too oily. Blot your lips to remove extra moisture. Use a lip liner to define your lips. Use your favourite lipstick. Blot off excess lipstick with a cloth. Powder your lips with a loose powder similar to the foundation that you use.

Love your bright lips from morning till nighttime.

Best Sunglasses Brands For Women

Sunglasses are one fashion accessory that can lift your entire outfit and put it on the pedestal. While some people are suckers for style, others are brand freaks, and most are hoarders (like me). In all this frenzy, sometimes we end up buying glasses for their sheer style, and do not bother to check if they protect our eyes from the sun (which is what they are supposed to do). I learned the hard way that sunglasses are worth the investment, and one robust pair is better than ten fancy ones. And when I say robust, I mean that they should at least be polarized, provide sun protection, or both (ideally). What does this mean? To know more, and about the top sunglasses brands for eyewear, you need to scroll down.

Types Of Sunglasses
UV Protection Sunglasses
UV Protection Sunglasses protect your eyes from the powerful ‘Ultraviolet’ rays that are known for causing damage to the skin, eyes, etc. Look for glasses that give 100% coverage, and are both UVA & UVB protected. UVA rays can cause cataracts and damage to the retina in some cases because they penetrate your eyes easily. UVB rays can be absorbed by your cornea, and are more harmful and powerful than UVA rays. The best and easiest way to protect yourself is by buying sunglasses that give your complete protection.

Polarized Sunglasses
Polarized Sunglasses are sunglasses that nullify the glare, reflection, and the intensity of light. ‘Glare’ is one of the biggest issues while driving, walking or even being out in the sun. Without getting into the science of it, here’s what they do – polarized glasses come with an invisible chemical coating that diminishes the intensity of light, and mellows down the sharpness. Polarized glasses are not always necessarily UV protectants, while the opposite is true. If you have to choose between UV protection sunglasses or polarized, go for the former, they are great value for that extra money you are going to spend.
Also, whichever one you choose to buy, make sure that your glasses cover your eye area completely to avoid skin discoloration, sunburns, tanning, etc.

Waterproof Mascara

Are you someone who loves fluttery, voluminous lashes and swears by waterproof mascara? If yes, you know it’s all fun and games till you actually have to remove it at the end of the day because waterproof mascara is notoriously stubborn. It’s a challenge as removing it the wrong way will have a negative impact not just on your lashes but also on the skin around your eyes. Also, what do you do when you run out of makeup remover in the middle of the night? Sleep with traces of it? That’s an enormous NO!
We’ve got a few clever hacks for you to remove waterproof mascara with ease and without causing strain to your precious lashes. Read on to find out how you can incorporate some of these methods to remove your mascara perfectly.

Here is how to Remove Waterproof Mascara Without Damaging Your Lashes And Blinding Yourself
his one’s a no-brainer. If you’re methodical and have your life together – you may never run out of your eye makeup remover because you’ll always remember to buy some beforehand. This tip is for the mascara-newbies. So listen up, using an eye makeup remover to get rid of that product at the end of the day is perhaps the most ideal thing to do.

What We Need

  • An eye makeup remover (We recommend trying the Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover or the Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover)
  • Cotton pads

Step By Step Process

  1. Take a cotton pad and pour some of your eye makeup remover onto it.
  2. Close your eyelids and rest the cotton pad on the top of your lashes for a few seconds.
  3. Gently wipe the cotton pad downwards, towards your lash tips.
  4. Repeat this process until all traces of the mascara has been removed.
